Allstate Sugar Bowl announces This Week’s Manning Award Futures

Four Nola area QBs honored as Quarterbacks of the Week; fans can vote for favorite on Twitter

NEW ORLEANS – The Allstate Sugar Bowl has announced this week’s Manning Award Futures – four local high school quarterbacks who turned in outstanding performances on the football field this past weekend. Fans now have the opportunity to go to Twitter (@SugarBowlNola) to vote for their favorite performance of the week.

The Manning Award, which recognizes the top collegiate quarterback in the nation on an annual basis, was created by the Allstate Sugar Bowl in 2004 to honor the college football accomplishments of Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning.

Manning Award Futures – High School QBs of the Week, 11/15/21:

Dylan Devezin, St. Augustine High School (20-of-28, 345 Total Yards, 3 TDs)

Devezin passed for 308 yards and ran for 37 more yards as he led the Purple Knights to a 52-14 Division I playoff victory over Shaw.

Jai Eugene Jr., Destrehan High School (5-for-8, 124 Total Yards, 3 TDs)

In only one half of play, Eugene passed for 108 yards with three total touchdowns as Destrehan posted a 48-14 Class 5A playoff victory over West Jeff.

Royal Falgout, John Ehret High School (7-of-13, 252 Total Yards, 2 TDs)

Falgout passed for 158 yards and ran for 94 yards as the Patriots rolled to a 50-20 Class 4A playoff victory over East Jefferson.

Jaden McCall, Lakeshore High School (18-of-24, 378 Total Yards, 6 TDs)

McCall, who threw for 352 yards and 5 touchdowns with a near-perfect NFL passer rating of 156.3, also ran for a sixth TD in a 62-31 Class 4A playoff win over district rival Franklinton.

The Allstate Sugar Bowl has established itself as one of the premier college football bowl games, having hosted 28 national champions, 99 Hall of Fame players, 51 Hall of Fame coaches and 19 Heisman Trophy winners in its 87-year history. The 88th Allstate Sugar Bowl Football Classic, which will feature top teams from the Big 12 and the SEC, is scheduled to be played on January 1, 2022.
