LSU baseball has gained another big time player from the transfer portal.

Air Force two-way player Paul Skenes announced his commitment to the Tigers via Twitter on Thursday night.

The Mountain West Conference Co-Pitcher of the Year had a 10-3 record and a 2.73 ERA over 85 2/3 innings in 15 starts this past season as a true sophomore. At the plate, the 6-foot-6, 235-pound Skenes posted a .314 average, 13 homers and 38 RBIs.

The true junior was named the 2022 John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year for his efforts. It was a fine follow-up to his first team All-American campaign as a utility player for the Falcons in 2021 when he served as a reliever. In both years, he has also spent time behind the plate as a catcher.

The Lake Forest, California product was highly coveted as soon as he entered the transfer portal. Skenes was courted by many prominent programs including SEC schools like Arkansas and Mississippi State.

LSU has also gained freshman slugger Tommy White, shortstop Carter Young as well as pitchers Thatcher Hurd and Christian Little as porminent transfers this summer.
