Alexis Calderon signs to round out UNO women’s basketball recruiting class for 2023-24 season

Alexis Calderon

NEW ORLEANS – Alexis Calderon becomes the final signee for the New Orleans Privateers women’s basketball class ahead of the upcoming 2023-24 campaign, UNO Head Coach Trelanne Powell’s first season on the Lakefront.

A guard who finished her high school career at Chapel Hill HS in Texas, Calderon played one season at Chapel Hill and made a big impact as the District Offensive MVP. In her senior year, she averaged 16.3 points, 6.5 assists and 3.2 steals per game.

Calderon also earned Academic All-District honors in her lone season with Chapel Hill.

The Texas native signed with Kilgore College. In her debut collegiate season, Calderon appeared in 18 games and averaged 6.0 points per game. She scored a season-best 13 points twice against Tyler JC and Angelina JC.

From there, Calderon went to Labette JC in Kansas. She played in 29 of the team’s 31 games and was in the starting lineup 16 times.

Calderon upped her scoring average to 7.3 points per game in her second collegiate season. Her season high in points was 20, which she got against Eastern Oklahoma State and Washburn. Calderon also averaged 4.0 assists per game and had a collegiate best 10 helpers against Oklahoma Wesleyan and Neosho County.

Labette went 26-5 last season and made a regional final.
