Volleyball Report: Hahnville, St. Scholastica sweeps pair of tourney matches Friday

It was a productive Friday for Hahnville and St. Scholastica as each team swept a pair of tournament matches.

At the Woodlawn Tournament in Baton Rouge, Hahnville opened its season by downing Airline 25-12, 25-20 and handled The Church Academy 25-16, 25-14. The Tigers, who reached the regional round of the Division I playoffs a year ago, are an experienced squad.

At The Academy of The Sacred Heart Tournament in New Orleans, St. Scholastica defeated host Academy of The Sacred Heart 25-18, 25-23 and defeated Presbyterian Christian 25-6, 25-13 to improve to 4-0 on the season. The Doves have not lost a set in their four victories to date. St. Scholastica reached the semifinals in Division II a year ago and are a definite threat to win it all this season.

The Doves are led by seniors Alessia Reeves and Aixa Crespo, along with junior Evey Waguespack. The Doves face Mandeville this morning at 9 a.m. in the same tournament.
