All-America Teams: Sports Illustrated | SB Nation

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane football redshirt senior cornerback Parry Nickerson adds two more All-America honors to his long list of laurels, named second-team All-America by Sports Illustrated and honorable mention All-America by SB Nation.

Tabbed first-team All-American Athletic Conference by the league’s head coaches, Nickerson led the conference in interceptions with six. His six picks rank tied for fourth in the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision at 0.5 per game. His 14 passes defended (six interceptions and eight pass breakups) rank tied for fourth in The American and tied for 37th in the country at 1.2 per game.

In his final season wearing the Olive and Blue, Nickerson recorded 55 tackles (46 solo) and 2.0 tackles for loss to go along with his six picks. The Paycom Jim Thorpe Award semifinalist was also a nominee for Allstate American Football Coaches Association Good Works Team, Wuerffel Trophy and Senior CLASS Award.

The Algiers, La., native finished his career as one of the best defensive backs to ever play at Tulane with 16 career interceptions, which rank second in school history, and 31 career pass breakups, which rank third in school history. He totaled 188 tackles, with 152 of those as solo stops, to go along with 8.0 tackles for loss, three forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries and one block.
