No matter if it was public or private schools the St. Tammany area schools flexed their muscles this week at the LHSAA State Swimming Championships in Sulphur. The state meet has been held at the SPAR Aquatics Center every year since 2006.

Division IV
On Wednesday morning the Division IV meet got off to a slow start with a 15 minute delay but that did not prevent the Pope John Paul Jaguars girls from coming out smoking hot. The Jaguar girls broke the school record in the 200 Medley relay, a record that stood since 1996. Senior Captain Emily Legnon then broke the school record in the 50 Free also from 1996.

The Jaguar girls weren’t done breaking school records and smashed the 200 Free relay record. On Thursday they broke their own record and placed third in the 200 Free relay.

Christ Episcopal’s Freshman Mary Louise Lemieux swam to two second place finishes in the 200 Free and the 500 Free.
Northlake Christian’s Junior Sage Angeletti proved to be the division’s top sprinter by winning the 50 Free and taking third in the 100 Free.

The PJP boys claimed state runner up honors for the third year in a row. Freshman Davis Legnon won the 200 IM and placed second in the 100 Free. Senior Captain Eddie Landry finished in fourth in the 100 Free and the 100 Breast. The Jaguar boys 400 Free relay placed second.
