Sara Howell has a burning desire to compete.

For the past couple of years, Howell has competed and competed quite well with boys as a member of the co-ed prep bowling team at Salmen High School. Now, Howell has a future competing with girls at the college level.

Howell has verbally committed to sign a bowling scholarship with Louisiana Tech and will sign her National Letter of Intent at Salmen.

Howell, who is a senior this year, is the two-time New Orleans girls district MVP and a two-time girls first team all-district performer. She averaged 175 with a high game of 232 and a high series of 648.

“I am so excited to see what the future holds,” Howell said. “Thanks to all of the coaches who have helped me get this far. Also, thanks to my parents, sister and all the rest of my family for all the love and support through all these years. I look forward to learning from my new coach, Matt Nantais, and working with my new teammates.”

Salmen head coach Chris Floyd is ecstatic about the opportunity awaiting Howell.

“Sara has been vocal about her dream of bowling collegiately since the inception of Salmen’s varsity bowling team in 2015 and I promised her I would do everything I could to make her dreams come true,” Floyd said. “It is so exciting to see her hard work and dedication pay off. She will be a valuable asset to Louisiana Tech.”
