Recent injury news has not led to many positive headlines for the Saints recently but one good bit of news is a boost to the offensive line.

Starting center Max Unger will return to practice Friday after passing his physical. He was activated off the physically unable to perform list, according to the NFL’s transaction wire.

Unger, ready to return to action from offseason foot surgery, had been targeted to be play in the third preseason game to help prepare for the regular season. New Orleans plays Sunday night against the Chargers in Carson, Calif. this Sunday in their second exhibition contest before returning home to host the Texans on Aug. 26.

In Unger’s absence, the Saints have had issues in training camp with off-target snaps in the shotgun. The return of Unger should mitigate those issues and stabilize an offensive line that is missing injured left tackle Terron Armstead.
