Rios slam helps Dodgers past Baby Cakes, 11-4

Oklahoma City – Edwin Rios had four hits and drove home six runs as the Oklahoma City Dodgers defeated the New Orleans Baby Cakes, 11-4, on Wednesday evening.

The game was tied at two in the third inning when Oklahoma City took advantage of three walks and plated five runs. OKC got an infield hit from Trayce Thompson to drive in the go ahead run. Rios followed up with a grand-slam home run.

Justin Marks pitched five innings earning the win. New Orleans starter William Cuevas took the defeat working five innings.

Jake Elmore led New Orleans (54-79) with two RBIs. Oklahoma City (71-65) had multi-hit nights from four hitters in the line-up.

GAME NOTES: New Orleans added Kyle Lobstein from inactive list and placed pitcher Mike Kickham on bereavement. The ‘Cakes have one error in their last 131 innings played, a span of 14 games. The ‘Cakes surrendered double digit runs for the 14th time this season after doing so eight times last season. The club set a new franchise record with 46 road losses; the team has dropped 44 in three other seasons.

UPCOMING: The ‘Cakes continue the four game series at OKC, Thursday at 7:05 p.m. New Orleans will start LHP Victor Payano against RHP Justin Masterson.
