Rickey Jackson headlines speakers Tuesday at GNOSF QB Club Luncheon

Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee and New Orleans Saints Ring of Honor member Rickey Jackson, LSU Radio Network play-by-play announcer Chris Blair, Tulane football director of player development Donn Landholm, Karr head football coach Brice Brown and Riverdale head football coach Willie Brooks are the featured speakers at the weekly meeting of the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation Quarterback Club luncheon next Tuesday, Sept. 19 at noon at Rock ‘n’ Bowl, 3016 South Carrollton Avenue in New Orleans.

Jackson was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2010. He was an inaugural inductee into the New Orleans Saints Ring of Honor. Jackson was previously inducted into the Saints Hall of Fame, the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame and the Greater New Orleans Sports Hall of Fame. He is the all-time leader in sacks in New Orleans Saints history and was a six-time Pro Bowl participant and four-time All-Pro in his 13 seasons with the Saints as a member of the famed Dome Patrol, voted the best linebacker corps in NFL history by NFL Network.

Blair in his second season as “Voice of the Tigers” after joining the LSU Sports Network in 2015 after serving in the same capacity at Georgia Southern for 10 years. Blair’s resume covers virtually all aspects of broadcasting, with broadcast management and marketing positions in Greenville and Columbia, South Carolina. Blair basically grew up inside a radio station, working at age 14 for his father, also a long-time broadcaster. Blair also worked for the Clemson Tiger Sports Network and at Lander University.

Landholm is in his second season as Director of Player Development for the Green Wave in 2017. Previously, he served as defensive coordinator at Tennessee Tech, Eastern Kentucky and Purdue and coached outside linebackers for the Boilermakers. Previously, Landholm coached linebackers as well at several stops and was recruiting coordinator at Eastern Kentucky. He coached offensive line at Blinn Junior College and also served as an assistant at Arizona State, Montana State and Central Missouri. He played football at Wayne State.

Brown is in his third year coaching at his alma mater. He led Karr to the unbeaten season and the Class 4A state championship in 2016 and he has earned Coach of the Year honors in the metro New Orleans Area from the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation in both of his seniors as head coach at Karr. Brown was an assistant at Karr from 2007-2014 and played for the Cougars as well as at Grambling State as an offensive lineman.

Brooks is in his first season at Riverdale after spending 12 years as the first-ever head coach at Helen Cox and one year as an assistant coach at his alma mater, De La Salle. Brooks previously served as defensive coordinator at Karr and St. Augustine.

Speakers from the New Orleans Saints, LSU, Tulane and Prep football will address the audience weekly, along with special guest speakers from the sports world locally and nationally.

A local high school player of the week is chosen throughout the season with a metro prep player of the year announced at the end of the season, sponsored by the R&L Carriers New Orleans Bowl. Lunch is served weekly every Tuesday.

In addition, Chevron sponsors student-athletes of the week each week, who receive plaques and recognition for their accomplishments in the classroom.
