Report: Suns hire Pelicans assistant coach Jamelle McMillian
Pelicans assistant Jamelle McMillan will join new Suns head coach Igor Kokoskov’s staff in Phoenix, ESPN’s Marc Spears reports.
New Orleans Pelicans assistant Jamelle McMillan is joining the Phoenix Suns’ coaching staff, a source tells @TheUndefeated. The son of Indiana Pacers head coach Nate McMillan is one of the youngest assistants in the NBA at 29 years old.

The son of Pacers head coach Nate McMillan, the 29-year old is one of the NBA’s youngest assistant coaches. He served as head coach of the Pelicans summer league squad last year.
After playing four seasons at Arizona State, McMillian was director of basketball operations at Drake University for a year. He spent the next six years with the Pelicans, starting as a coaching intern coaching, moving into the role of player development coach and eventually taking a spot on the bench as an assistant for the 2016-17 season.
Kokoskov, who has served an NBA assistant coach for 18 years, is the first head coach in the league not born or raised in North America.
