Report: Greg Monroe chooses to sign with Celtics over Pelicans

Greg Monroe is not headed home.

Monroe, a 6-foot-11 Helen Cox High School alum who recently had his contract bought out by the Phoenix Suns, agreed to sign a one-year, $5 million deal with the Boston Celtics, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

The 27-year-old New Orleans area native weighed options between the New Orleans Pelicans — a middle-of-the-pack Western Conference playoff hopeful — and the Boston Celtics, the current Eastern Conference leaders. Read more from The Advocate.
