Rebowe, Steltz, Mouton, Nagle, Valdez to speat at GNOSF QB Club Luncheon Tuesday

Tim Rebowe

Nicholls head coach Tim Rebowe, former Rummel and LSU star Craig Steltz, WWL-TV sports director Doug Mouton, Tulane tight ends coach Slade Nagle and St. James head coach Robert Valdez are the featured speakers at the weekly Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation Quarterback Club luncheon on Tuesday, Oct. 17 at noon at Rock ‘n’ Bowl, 3016 South Carrollton Avenye in New Orleans.

A native or Norco, Rebowe is in his third season as head coach of the Colonels, whom he guided to their first winning season in 11 years in 2016. He has recruited Louisiana aggressively, with 58 of his 64 signees from the Pelican state. Rebowe was previously an assistant at Nicholls, at UL-Lafayette and ULM. On the prep level, he was the head coach at Destrehan. Rebowe is a graduate of Destrehan and LSU.

A native of Metairie, Steltz was the first two-time all-state player in Archbishop Rummel history and the only player in Rummel history to have his number (10) retired by the school. He was the Louisiana defensive player of the year in 2003. Steltz went on to star at LSU, where he was a first-team All-American in 2007, when he recorded six interceptions, three forced fumbles and 101 tackles and was an integral part of the Tigers winning the national championship. Steltz went on to play six seasons with the Chicago Bears.

A native of New Orleans and graduate of Brother Martin and UNO, Mouton has served as sports director at WWL since 2012. Previously, he was a northshore reporter for Channel 4 and spent 11 years at WGNO-TV, along with stints at KEVN-TV in Rapid City, South Dakota KVHP-TV in Lake Charles and WEAR-TV in Pensacola. Mouton has 12 first-place awards from the Press Club of New Orleans.

A native of Lake Charles, Nagle starred at Barbe High School and at McNeese at quarterback after originally signing with Clemson. He has served as an assistant coach at Dodge City (Kansas) Community College, Northwestern State, LSU, Texas State and at Central Arkansas. He is in his second season as tight ends coach for the Green Wave.

A native of New Orleans and a graduate of O. Perry Walker and Southern University as a fine lineman, Valdez served as an assistant at East St. John and McKinley. Valdez is in his second season as the head coach at St. James, having served as the head coach at West St. John from 2008-2014, leading the Rams to a state-runnerup finish and four consecutive semifinal appearances. He was the head coach at Scotlandville in 2015, guiding the Hornets to a 10-2 record.

Speakers from the New Orleans Saints, LSU, Tulane and Prep football will address the audience weekly, along with special guest speakers from the sports world locally and nationally.

A local high school player of the week is chosen throughout the season with a metro prep player of the year announced at the end of the season, sponsored by the R&L Carriers New Orleans Bowl. Lunch is served weekly every Tuesday.

In addition, Chevron sponsors student-athletes of the week each week, who receive plaques and recognition for their accomplishments in the classroom.
