Niko Roy of West St. John named GNOSF QB Club Prep Player of Week

West St. John junior running back/linebacker Niko Roy is the R&L Carriers New Orleans Bowl/Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation, CrescentCitySports.com and Friday Night Football prep Player of the Week for Week 13.

A junior, Roy rushed 12 times for 118 yards and two touchdowns and had 11 tackles, including one for a loss and had the game-clinching interception as top-seed West St. John downed eighth-seed Jonesboro-Hodge 26-6 in the Class 1A quarterfinals. Roy is coached by Brandon Walters.

Roy will be honored at the year-end meeting of the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation Quarterback Club on Tuesday, Dec. 12 at noon at Rock ‘n’ Bowl, 3016 South Carrollton Avenue.

The Quarterback Club meets weekly each Tuesday at noon at Rock ‘n’ Bowl and is open to the public. Lunch is served and there are speakers on the New Orleans Saints, LSU, Tulane and prep football each week.
