Niko Roy of West St. John named GNOSF QB Club Prep Player of Week

West St. John junior running back/linebacker Niko Roy is the R&L Carriers New Orleans Bowl/Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation, CrescentCitySports.com and Friday Night Football prep Player of the Week for Week 13.

A junior, Roy rushed 12 times for 118 yards and two touchdowns and had 11 tackles, including one for a loss and had the game-clinching interception as top-seed West St. John downed eighth-seed Jonesboro-Hodge 26-6 in the Class 1A quarterfinals. Roy is coached by Brandon Walters.

Roy will be honored at the year-end meeting of the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation Quarterback Club on Tuesday, Dec. 12 at noon at Rock ā€˜nā€™ Bowl, 3016 South Carrollton Avenue.

The Quarterback Club meets weekly each Tuesday at noon at Rock ā€˜nā€™ Bowl and is open to the public. Lunch is served and there are speakers on the New Orleans Saints, LSU, Tulane and prep football each week.
