THIBODAUX, La. – College football featured its first early signing period Wednesday (Dec. 20) and Nicholls State University football head coach Tim Rebowe inked seven Louisiana products to kick off the 2018 signing class.

Already featuring the most Louisiana players in Division I football, all seven student-athletes in the early signing period for Nicholls are natives of the Pelican State. Five are seniors in high school, while two are joining the Colonel program after playing two seasons in the junior college ranks.

Playing 20 miles down the road at Central Lafourche, David Robinson, Jr. was one of five offensive signees to commit to the Red and Gray. De La Salle teammates Julien Gums (running back) and Jeremiah James (offensive lineman) gave Nicholls three straight signing classes with student-athletes from the Cavalier program in New Orleans. Brusly native Codi Willis signed as a tight end and Tyrin Arceneaux (LaPlace) played at offensive line for Pearl River Community College.

Junior college transfer Korey Louis was the lone defensive player to sign with Nicholls. Louis played at Breaux Bridge High School before continuing his career at Southwest Mississippi Community College.

Rounding out the seven-member class is athlete Lloyd Nash. Also from LaPlace, Nash and Arceneaux both represented the River Parishes at St. Charles Catholic.

Nicholls graduated only 16 seniors from the 2017 FCS playoff team, which finished 8-4 on the year and was ranked as high as No. 22. All 10 All-Southland honorees were juniors and sophomores.
