THIBODAUX, La. – Riding its first three-game winning streak since 2013, the Nicholls State University football team moved up three spots to No. 20 in the FCS Coaches Top 25 Poll for the week of Oct. 16.

The No. 20 ranking is the highest for the Colonels this season, which improved to 5-2 overall and 4-1 in the Southland. Nicholls was previously ranked at No. 23 twice and at No. 25. The team currently sits at No. 28 in the STATS FCS Poll with 169 votes.

The five wins matches the team’s total from last season with four games still remaining. The only losses this year came against top 10 Sam Houston State and FBS Texas A&M.

The No. 20 Colonels will have the upcoming weekend off before hitting the road to face UIW on Saturday, Oct. 28. Nicholls’ final home game is slated for Nov. 4 against HBU.
