Newman quarterback Martin Butcher named Metro Prep Player of Week

Newman junior quarterback Martin Butcher has been selected as the R&L Carriers New Orleans Bowl, Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation Quarterback Club and CrescentCitySports.com

Butcher completed 26-of-40 passes for 408 yards with four touchdowns in 42-7 win at Assumption as the Greenies remained unbeaten at 9-0.

Butcher is coached by Nelson Stewart. He will be honored at the year end meeting of the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation Quarterback Club on Dec. 12 at Rock ‘n’ Bowl.

The Quarterback Club meets weekly on Tuesday’s at noon at Rock ‘n’ Bowl, 3016 South Carrollton Avenue in New Orleans with speakers on the Saints, LSU, Tulane and prep football weekly. Admission is $20 for members, $25 for non-members and is open to the public.
