New Orleans Boosters reach AAABA semi-finals with 8-2 win over Baltimore

JOHNSTOWN, PA – The New Orleans Boosters improved to 4-0 Thursday following a 8-2 win over Baltimore in the fourth round of play in the 73rd annual All-American Amateur Baseball Association (AAABA) Tournament.

New Orleans scored in the third following a wall by Justin Nussbaum, who stole second, and scored on a double by Spencer Miller. Baltimore tied the game in the bottom frame on a Booster error.

In the fifth, Nussbaum walked, advanced on a fielder’s choice by Justin Ory and a subsequent error, and scored on Blake Way’s three run homer over Point Stadium’s leftfield wall. Baltimore picked up a second run in the 6th on a double. In the seventh, Blake Way led off with a triple, and scored on a single by Grant Mathews, who later scored on a wild pitch. Chip Bonura singled and scored on a sacrifice fly by Grant Schulz. Blake Freeman walked and scored on a single by Noah Fontenot for an eighth and final run.

New Orleans starter Jace Nini pitched seven innings and struck out ten. Daniel Dugas and Kyle Flettrich each appeared one inning in relief.

The Boosters advance to the AAABA’s semi-final round to face the winner of the Maryland State/Johnstown game on Friday.
