LA Tech releases 2017-18 women’s basketball schedule

RUSTON – Louisiana Tech plays 16 home games, including marquee non-conference match-ups against Clemson and Memphis, as part of its 2017-18 women’s basketball schedule released on Friday.

The 16 home games is the most for the Lady Techsters since the 2008-09 campaign as head coach Brooke Stoehr and Co. will play eight non-conference contests and eight Conference USA games this year. In addition to the Clemson and Memphis games, Tech’s home slate features non-conference match-ups against Grambling State, ULM, McNeese State, LSU-Alexandria, Houston Baptist and Alcorn State while its C-USA games are against North Texas, UTSA, Old Dominion, WKU, UAB, Rice, Charlotte and Southern Miss.

“I am excited about the schedule that has been put together for this year,” said Stoehr. “We have a good home slate for our Lady Techster fans to enjoy as well as some challenging games on the road in non-conference play that will help us prepare of conference play. It is essential for this team to be tested early in order to compete at a high level lonce we get into Conference USA play.”

The Lady Techsters road schedule features some tough games against Power 5 schools, including a return trip to SEC foe Auburn, a date at Big 12 opponent Texas and a neutral site game against Big Ten foe Penn State in Las Vegas as part of the Southpoint Shootout. Tech also faces Niagra in the same Vegas tournament as well as a trip to play UALR.

Tech’s road Conference USA games include Southern Miss, Marshall, FIU, Florida Atlantic, Middle Tennessee, UTEP, UAB and Rice. This year’s Conference USA Tournament will be held only four hours away at The Star in Frisco, Texas, the indoor practice facility of the Dallas Cowboys.

“Our great fans will be able to enjoy some regional road games, a trip to Las Vegas and an exciting home schedule this season. We are thrilled this year’s Conference USA Tournament will be held at The Star. It is an incredible venue and a location our alumni and fans will really enjoy.”

Times for home games will be released at a later date.

The Lady Techsters are coming off a season that saw the program win 18 games and earn its first postseason appearance (WNIT) since the 2011 NCAA Tournament. Tech returns seven letterwinners and welcomes seven newcomers to the roster this year.

Season ticket holders are entitled to renewing the same seats as long as they are renewed by the deadline. In addition, by renewing or purchasing season tickets online, the processing fee will be waived.
