Frank Bartley earns Sun Belt Conference Men’s Basketball honors

NEW ORLEANS – After being named to the All-Tournament team at the inaugural Cayman Islands Classic and helping the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns to three wins last week, Frank Bartley was named the Sun Belt Co-Men’s Basketball Player of the Week in a release by the league office on Tuesday.

Bartley, a senior from Baton Rouge, averaged 20.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.8 steals in four games for the Ragin’ Cajuns, that included a third-place finish in the Cayman Islands Classic.

The 6-foot-3 guard opened the week last Friday with 21 points in 19 minutes of play in a 115-82 win over Savannah State before scoring 17 points and dishing out four assists in an 80-71 win over Big 10 member Iowa.

Bartley added 19 points, going 10-for-12 from the free throw line, against Wyoming in the semifinals on Tuesday before scoring a season-high 23 points with four assists and a career-high six steals in an 82-76 win over Atlantic 10 opponent Richmond in the third-place game.

Bartley is currently averaging a team-high 16.2 points per game for Louisiana (4-2), which faces McNeese in a non-conference game on Tuesday before traveling to battle Nicholls in a 7 p.m. contest on Friday in Thibodaux.
