Alabama assistant coach Karl Dunbar is “in discussions with the Steelers” to be their defensive line coach, reports Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News.

The former All-SEC defensive lineman at LSU was an eighth round pick of the Steelers in the 1990 NFL Draft. He played one year with the Saints.

A native of Opelousas, Dunbar served at LSU as a strength and conditioning coach from 2000-01 and later as defensive line coach in 2005.

The 50-year old Dunbar has coached in the NFL with the Bears, Vikings, Jets and Bills.
