CLEVELAND, Ohio – Just two days after earning AP All-America honors, Nicholls State University placekicker Lorran Fonseca added another impressive distinction as the Division I Football Championship Subdivision Athletics Directors Association (FCS ADA) named Fonseca to the 2017 FCS ADA All-America team, the organization announced Thursday.

Unlike the AP honor, only one player from each position was named to the FCA ADA 11-member team. Fonseca was one of three Southland players to make the exclusive list, joined by Sam Houston State quarterback Jeremiah Briscoe and UIW punter Joe Zema.

A native Hercules, California, Fonseca was selected as the ADA’s top FCS placekicker after making a league-high 19 field goals. He also ranked eighth in percentage in the FCS and had eight field goals of 40 yards or longer, which was the most of any kicker ranked in the top 10 in percentage.

Fonseca was a weapon for the Colonels in his inaugural season, ranking 15th in the FCS with 7.7 points per game. He kicked five field goals in a 29-20 win over Abilene Christian, and also split the uprights for a game-winner on his first career attempt in the Colonels’ season-opening two-point win over McNeese.

On the year, Fonseca converted 19 of 23 field goal attempts and had one 50-yarder. He connected on 35 of 36 extra points and totaled 36 touchbacks.

Below is a list of honors for Fonseca this season:

– FCS ADA All-America – FCS ADA Top Collegiate Placekicker
– Associated Press FCS All-America Third Team
– All-Southland Second Team
– Fred Mitchell Award Finalist
– STATS FCS National Special Teams Player of the Week
– Two-time Southland Conference Player of the Week
– Three-time Louisiana Sports Writers Association (LSWA) Special Teams Player of the Week
