Due to the possibility of significant rain Friday evening, the Ed Reed Jamboree at Destrehan and the St. Charles Catholic Jamboree have been moved up to Thursday night.

Destrehan will now play host to Lutcher with the junior varsity beginning Thursday at 6 p.m., followed by the varsity matchup between the two traditional powers.

“We just did not want to take the chance of losing the work and hurting our attendance and the fans’ opportunity to come out,” Destrehan head coach Steve Robicheaux said.

The Wildcats reached the Class 5A semifinals a year ago while the Bulldogs won their second consecutive Class 3A state title. Lutcher has moved up to Class 4A this season.

In LaPlace, Country Day will face Archbishop Hannan at 6 p.m. in the opening game followed by the host Comets against the Falcons of St. Thomas Aquinas.

“We are concerned about the impending weather which could be severe Friday,” St. Charles Catholic head coach Frank Monica said. “We have a junior varsity jamboree on Friday which is up in the air until we figure out what the weather would be. It also gives us an extra day to start preparing for our opening game of the season at Chalmette.”
