Bowling: Academy of Our Lady downs Chapelle

There is little doubt who the top girls team is in the New Orleans area prep bowling league.

Academy of Our Lady remained unbeaten with a 21-6 victory over Archbishop Chapelle at Westside Bowl in Harvey. It was the second victory for the Penguins over the Chipmunks this season.

The Penguins fired an impressive 3,055 team series to post the solid win.

AOL (6-0) took game one 5-3 as Shelby Elwin led the way with a 193 game while Erin Burkart had a 191. Lauren Michel added 190 game. Sarah Rubi fired a 235 game while Bailey Hymel had a 224 game for the Chipmunks.

Game two went to AOL 8-0 to virtually clinch the match with a 1,075 game. Burkhart shot a 204 game while Danielle Poussard added 203. Michel shot 194 for the Penguins. Jessica Ladd had a 161 for Chapelle.

The Penguins won game three 5-3 as Poussard had a 198 game while Lauryn Hartsell had a 188 game. Hymel topped Chapelle with a 190 series.

Burkhart finished with a 556 series while Poussard had a 549 for Academy of Our Lady. Michel added a 534. Hymel led the Chipmunks (5-2) with a 559, Rubi had a 523 while Ladd had a 515 series.
