Baby Cakes edge Dodgers in season road finale

Oklahoma City – The New Orleans Baby Cakes sent eight batters to the plate in the top of the ninth inning and scored two runs to erase a 2-1 deficit and defeat Oklahoma City 3-2 in the final road game of the season.

Cal Towey picked up three hits and drove home the go-ahead run with a line drive single just over the glove of the shortstop in the ninth inning.

Tayron Guerrero worked a scoreless eighth inning to earn the win in relief. Jeremy Bleich pitched two innings allowed two runs on four hits and his sixth blown save of the season.

The ‘Cakes led 1-0 when the Henry Ramos drilled a two run home run in the seventh inning to give OKC the lead.

Eury Perez had four hits for New Orleans and stole two bases in the teams fifth win of the season when trailing after eight innings.

New Orleans (55-79) picked up its 21st come from behind win of the season. The Dodgers (71-66) fell to 57-5 when leading after eight innings.

GAME NOTES: The ‘Cakes did make a fifth inning error and now have two errors in their last 140 innings played, a span of 15 games.

UPCOMING: The ‘Cakes retrun home for the final series of the season. New Orleans will host Nashville beginning Friday at 7 p.m. Saturday’s game time has been adjusted to a 4 pm first pitch. Sunday’s game is a 6 p.m. start and Monday will be the season finale at 1 p.m.
