AOL tops Chapelle in showdown of area’s top girls bowling teams

In a matchup of what could be the area’s top two girls bowling programs this season, Academy of Our Lady edged Archbishop Chapelle 17-10 Thursday at AMF All Star Lanes.

AOL jumped to an 6-2 lead after one game as Erin Burkart had an opening 205 and Danielle Poussard had a 202.
The Penguins extended the lead 11-5 lead after two games before Chapelle rallied to win five of the eight points in game three.

Poussard led AOL with a 535 series, followed closely by Burkart’s 525 and a 518 series by Lauryn Hartsell, who closed with a 209 game.

The Chipmunks’ bottom of the lineup all finished with 500 series, led by Sarah Rubi’s 559. Bailey Hymel had a 526 and Jessica Ladd rolled a 520 series.

The teams will face off again Feb. 19 at Westside.
