MOSS BLUFF – With week seven of football season came another tough game in an always competitive District 3-5A. It was extremely tough from the start for Sam Houston.

“Everything went right for us and went wrong for them early,” said Acadiana head coach Ted Davidson.

Acadiana made a huge statement early, jumping out to huge 42-0 lead in the first quarter and downing Sam Houston, 70-0.

“I don’t think there is much, if anything, about our game plan we could have changed in this game,” said Sam Houston head coach Chad Paulk. “It’s about making plays and doing everything we can to battle back from adversity.”

Acadiana imposed their will on the Broncos all night long, starting early in the first quarter when Kablin Shelvin carried the ball nine yards for a touchdown just one minute and twelve seconds into the game.

The Wreckin’ Rams then scored five more touchdowns in the first quarter on one touchdown carry each by Lucky Brooks, Jaylen James, Jaylon Borel, and Dillon Monette and a touchdown pass from Borel to James as time expired in the first quarter.

Acadiana extended their lead to 63-0 at halftime after touchdown carry and punt return for touchdown by James and a fumble recovery for a touchdown by Braden Carrier.

“We had a lot of guys go down in the second quarter,” said Paulk. “Half of our offense is injured before halftime. It’s about responding from adversity and doing things to counter that. We have to be able to face some adversity and still be able to do some things on both sides of the football.”

The dogs were called off after halftime and running clock was implemented. However, touchdown run by Larryll Greene with less than a minute left was the icing on the cake for Acadiana.

“We have to keep fighting,” said Paulk. “It’s a tough thing to lose by that much but our kids never stopped fighting. Love overcomes everything. I love these kids and they love to come out here everyday and make football the best part of their day and that’s what we need to continue to do.”

“It’s always good to go on the road and get a win,” said Davidson. “We have Sulphur coming into town next week which is a big game for us because they are playing very well right now and should decide the district championship.”
